The RFU Coach Development Department is
responsible for the development, delivery, co-ordination and
promotion of an extensive range of coach educational products and
services. The RFU remains committed to providing resources
and activities suitable for all individuals whatever their
interests, experience or level of expertise. We offer a range of award courses, some linked to
the National Occupational Standards Framework. We also
provide courses and support resources for continuous Professional
Development for clubs and schools. A Teacher Investment
Programme offers specially designed courses for teachers both at
the fundamental and more advanced levels. The qualities of a good coach might include
enthusiasm, patience, open-mindedness, fairness, knowledge of the
sport, a desire to learn and a willingness to help other people
improve. Without these positive, personal qualities, the most
skilled technical coach might not be able to help people learn
effectively. Evan Crawford
